10 feature films have made it another step closer to earning a nomination in the Visual Effects category at the 2015 Academy Awards. Members of the Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee were responsible for selecting the films that made it on the shortlist to move forward, with all members of the Visual Effects Branch now offered the opportunity to watch 10 minute excerpts of the 10 films that made the cut in order to determine the five films that will be nominated in the category.
The movies moving forward are:
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”
“Godzilla”
“Guardians of the Galaxy”
“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”
“Interstellar”
“Maleficent”
“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”
“Transformers: Age of Extinction”
