10 Films Remain in the Running for Visual Effects Oscar

10 films released in 2015 are still in the running for the Visual Effects Oscar at the 88th Academy Awards. According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, members of the Visual Effects Branch of the Academy will watch 10 minute excerpts from each of the 10 films on January 9, 2016. They will then nominate five of the films in the Visual Effects category.


The 2016 Oscars will be hosted by Chris Rock and will air live on ABC on February 28th. The awards show will once again be held at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, with the live show kicking off at 4pm PT.
