Matt Roberts is Leaving 3 Doors Down

3 Doors Down

Matt Roberts has announced he’ll be leaving 3 Doors Down after nearly two decades with the group as a founding member. Guitarist/back-up vocalist Roberts officially announced his decision to leave the band, citing health concerns – including a continuing circulation problem, which is only made worse by being on the road – as the reason.

“3 Doors Down will always have a special place in my heart, and it saddens me to take this time off,” stated Roberts. “But my health has to be my first priority.”

Roberts and longtime friends Brad Arnold (lead singer) and Todd Harrell (bassist) formed the band in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi. The group currently consists of Arnold, Harrell, Chris Henderson on guitar, and Greg Upchurch on drums.

“Matt is our brother and he will always be a part of this band and he will always be welcomed back with open arms,” said Brad Arnold.

The group’s taking part in the Gang of Outlaws Tour with ZZ Top and Gretchen Wilson and plan to continue with the previously scheduled tour dates.
