History’s New Series Leaves People ‘Alone’ in the Wilderness

History Announces Alone Survival Series

10 survivalists alone on Vancouver Island are the focus of History’s upcoming unscripted series Alone debuting this summer. Season one’s 10 episodes follows 10 hardcore survivalists attempting to stay alive as long as possible. The survivalists are not accompanied by producers, camera crews, or other support teams, with the person who lasts the longest earning the $500,000 grand prize.

History has dubbed the new series the “country’s boldest and longest survival experiment ever captured for television.” Russ McCarroll, Zachary Behr, Brent Montgomery, David George, Shawn Witt, Grant Kahler and Gretchen Palek are the show’s executive producers.

Alone is a one-of-a-kind survival series, that pits people against the unknown in complete isolation,” stated Russ McCarroll, VP Development & Programming, HISTORY. “Without producers or camera crews following their every move, the survivalist experts are truly going off-the-grid to persevere with endurance.”

The Plot:

Carrying only what they can fit in a backpack, the survivalists are completely separated from one another in harsh, unforgiving terrain to hunt, build shelters and fend off predators. They will face extreme isolation and psychological distress as they plunge into the unknown, self-documenting their experience. Alone is the ultimate test of man’s will to survive.
