The two-hour season 22 The Amazing Race finale found teams racing around Washington DC and being fooled into believing they’d be posing for a photo with President Obama. After racing around the globe in a quest to win a cool $1 million, the first hour of the show’s season 22 finale saw the elimination of one of the four remaining teams while three teams continued on with the race to the finish mat.

Don’t read on unless you’ve watched the episode – you’ve been warned!

First up to lose out on a chance at scoring the big payday for their globetrotting efforts were pretty Country singers Caroline Cutbirth and Jennifer Kuhle, who had problems swimming in a mud bog which put them behind the rest of the teams. The singers were never quite able to catch up, despite some hiccups by roller derby moms and the hockey players while attempting to serve a Titanic-inspired five-course meal. That left Mona Egender & Beth Bandimere, Max & Katie Bichler, and Bates & Anthony Battaglia to go head-to-head as the last teams standing.

During the final three teams’ race around the U.S. capitol, the finalists had to search for a briefcase containing a clue, catch a baseball tossed by their partner from a zipline above the Nationals’ stadium, and then partake in the final challenge which found the teams searching for balls featuring the countries they’d visited over the course of the race and place them in the correct order of their visits. After putting the balls in order, they were given their final clue, which led them to George Washington’s home at Mt. Vernon.

After a hard-fought race, the order of finish wound up being the hockey players in first, followed by the Bichlers in second. Egender and Bandimere came in third.
