This probably made all of American Idol‘s producers really happy… All of the men have been eliminated from the singing competition which had earned a reputation as the launching pad for white guys who play guitars over the past few seasons. Instead, it’s come down to a battle of five women for the title of season 12’s American Idol winner.

This season is the first in the show’s history to have five female finalists. Left standing after the last male (Lazaro Arbos) went home are: Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, and Angie Miller. One of them is guaranteed to be the first female winner since season six’s Jordin Sparks.

And on the April 18, 2013 American Idol results show the five ladies, as well as the AI audience, will be treated to performances by season three winner, Fantasia. Season two’s runner-up Clay Aiken is also scheduled to perform.
