Amy Schumer is Named Breakthrough Performer of the Year

Amy Schumer has been named as the CinemaCon® Breakthrough Performer of the Year award winner and will be recognized during the Big Screen Achievement Awards in Vegas. The annual gathering of National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) members will take place April 20th through April 23rd, with the awards set for April 23rd at Caesars Palace.

“Already a breakout comedic star on television with her hit series Inside Amy Schumer, Amy has proven that she has an innate ability to take the everyday topics related to life and make them so funny that she has audiences wondering just what she will say next,” said Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon, announcing Schumer’s award. “With her upcoming breakout role in Trainwreck, Amy pairs her provocative and hilarious writing style with Judd Apatow’s honest comedic look at what it is like to live in the world today. We could not be more excited that we get the chance to honor such an incredible talent with the CinemaCon Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award.”

Trainwreck was written by Schumer, stars Schumer, and was directed by Judd Apatow. Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, John Cena, Tilda Swinton and LeBron James co-star in the comedy about a woman who “lives her life without apologies, even when maybe she should apologize.”

Schumer’s additional credits include Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Girls, Delocated, and 30 Rock.
