Amy Schumer Gets Her Own HBO Comedy Special

Amy Schumer is getting her first HBO comedy special and it’ll be directed by Chris Rock. Announcing the special, HBO revealed Schumer will shoot the comedy special on May 29, 2015 at the Apollo Theater in NY. Schumer’s writing the special and is also executive producing along with Mike Berkowitz and Jimmy Miller. The network hasn’t set a premiere date but is aiming for a late 2015 debut.

Fans can purchase tickets for the taping beginning on May 8th at 10am ET via TicketMaster.com.

“Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship,” said Michael Lombardo, HBO Programming President. “This event is even more special because our good friend, the incredibly talented Chris Rock, is directing.”

Schumer currently stars in, writes, and executive produces the Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer which was just renewed for a fourth season. She also wrote and stars in the comedy film Trainwreck directed by Judd Apatow and heading to theaters on July 17, 2015.

Other comedians who’ve had their own HBO comedy specials include Louis C.K., Tracy Morgan, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, George Carlin, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Sarah Silverman, and Bill Maher.
