Calling all you creative types… A&E and Bates Motel executive producer Carlton Cuse have just announced a contest to design the 15 second opening title sequence for the new series. The contest is now open and ends on January 3, 2013.

To enter, visit www.facebook.com/BatesMotelAETV. Carlton will judge the entries and choose the one that “best represents the mood, tone, and overall feel of the series.” The winner will receive $2,500 and could have their idea used as the show’s actual title sequence.

“We want to give fans the chance to participate in the show,” explained Cuse. “We’re looking for an awesome fifteen-second title sequence that captures the feel of Bates Motel – not as a slasher/horror show, but as a complex, character-based thriller.”

Bates Motel debuts in 2013.

The Plot:

Bates Motel, inspired by Hitchcock’s genre-defining film, Psycho, is a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates, relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit. Viewers will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first-hand how Norma helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
