You’ll Have at Least One More Season to Check Into Bates Motel

A&E Network is so pleased with the ratings for season two of Bates Motel they’ve renewed the show for a third season. A&E Network Executive Vice President and General Manager David McKillop made the official announcement, saying, “The incredible writing team and talented Bates Motel cast has made this series one of the most compelling original dramas on television. The brilliant twists and turns of the past two seasons keep its loyal fan base coming back for more. We are so proud of the show.”
 
Season two kicked off in March and has been generating an average of 4.6 million viewers. That’s good enough to make the series the network’s #1 all-time drama among viewers ages 18 through 49.
 
Filming on the 10 episode third season will take place this fall. Series stars Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates and Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates will be back in the lead roles.
 
The Plot:
 
Bates Motel, inspired by Hitchcock’s genre-defining film, Psycho, is a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates, relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit. Viewers will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first-hand how Norma helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
