Starz has tapped Emmy-nominated composer Bear McCreary (Human Target) to work on the music for the upcoming pirate series Black Sails. Produced by Michael Bay, Black Sails will be premiering in January 2014.
Starz also announced that Bear McCreary will be performing during the Black Sails fan event at the San Diego Comic-Con. The network is sneak-peaking an episode from the show on Thursday, July 18th at 8:30pm at Reading Cinemas (701 5th Ave. San Diego, CA 92101) with cast members Zach McGowan, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Mark Ryan, and Hakeem Kae-Kazim in attendance.

The Plot:
The pirate adventure Black Sails centers on the tales of Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his men and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island. Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver (Luke Arnold).
