Ben Kingsley Joins Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’

Walt Disney Pictures announced Sir Ben Kingsley has joined the cast of Disney’s The Jungle Book. Kingsley will be providing the voice of Bagheera the black panther in the film which will be a mix of live-action and animation.

Kingsley joins a voice cast that includes Idris Elba as Shere Khan (the tiger), Scarlett Johansson as Kaa (the python), and Lupita Nyong’o as Rakcha (Mowgli’s wolf mother).

Jon Favreau is set to direct The Jungle Book and Justin Marks wrote the script based on the story by Rudyard Kipling.

Disney’s aiming for an October 9, 2015 theatrical release.
