Whitney Houston to Be Honored at the Billboard Music Awards

Billboard announced singer Whitney Houston will be honored posthumously at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards taking place on May 20th in Las Vegas. Houston will be awarded the Billboard Millennium Award (an award won by Beyonce in 2011) during a tribute in which her Sparkle co-star Jordin Sparks joins with John Legend to celebrate her legacy.

According to Billboard, Whitney’s posthumous award will be accepted by her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and her sister-in-law, Pat Houston.

Houston collected 16 Billboard Music Awards over the years, and Billboard says she’s the “first artist ever to have seven consecutive No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100.”

This year’s awards show will be hosted by Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell from Modern Family. The 2012 Billboard Music Awards air at 8pm on May 20th on ABC.
