Logan Lucky wasn’t so lucky at the box office, ringing up just $8 million domestically while opening in 3,000+ theaters. The disappointing box office take was only enough to snag a third place finish for the caper comedy from director Steven Soderbergh and starring Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and Daniel Craig. The slow end-of-the-summer weekend found The Hitman’s Bodyguard with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson taking the top spot despite earning mostly negative reviews from critics. The Hitman’s Bodyguard sits at 39% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes while Logan Lucky, ignored by audiences, generated overwhelmingly positive reviews and has a 93% fresh rating.

With no real major releases opening over the August 25-27, 2017 weekend, expect the box office numbers to plummet to the lowest of the year. Fortunately, Warner Bros. Pictures’ It will revive the box office when it arrives in theaters on September 8th.
