Charlie Hunnam, Mel Gibson and Eiza Gonzalez Will Star in ‘Waldo’

Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, The Lost City of Z), Eiza González (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), and Oscar winner Mel Gibson (Braveheart) are confirmed to star in the thriller, Waldo. The film’s based on Howard Gould’s Last Looks novel and will be directed by Tim Kirkby (Fleabag, Brockmire, Veep).

Andrew Lazar, Christina Weiss Lurie, and Steve Shainberg are on board as producers. IMR International will be handling foreign sales at the American Film Market.

Filming is scheduled to get underway in early 2019. Waldo is expected to be released in the summer of 2019.

Charlie Hunnam’s best known for his role as Jax Teller in FX’s Sons of Anarchy. His additional credits include starring roles in The Lost City of Z with Robert Pattinson, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword from director Guy Ritchie, and the 2018 remake of Papillon with Rami Malek. Hunnam recently finished up shooting Triple Frontier with Ben Affleck as well as The True History of the Kelly Gang alongside Russell Crowe and Nicholas Hoult.

Eiza González played Jetta in Jem and the Holograms and was bank robber ‘Darling’ in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver. Next up she’ll be seen in Welcome to Marwen, opening in theaters on December 21, 2018. She recently completed work on Alita: Battle Angel, Paradise Hills, and Cut Throat City.

Mel Gibson’s most recent film roles include Daddy’s Home 2 and Get the Gringo. Gibson’s upcoming films Boss Level and The Professor and the Madman are targeting 2019 release dates. He’s also set to step behind the camera again to direct the WWII drama Destroyer.

The Plot:

Waldo introduces a new and compelling hero in disgraced former LAPD detective Charlie Waldo, currently living the life of a minimalist in the woods. His quiet life comes to a startling halt when he is roped back into working as a private eye to investigate the murder of an eccentric television star’s wife.”
