Sir Paul McCartney, the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year, was honored for his philanthropic work at a star-studded event held on February 10, 2012 at the LA Convention Center. Among the performers helping to recognize McCartney for his charitable efforts were 60 dancers and acrobats from The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil.

The LOVE cast performed to a specially edited track by producer Giles Martin, which featured songs from the award-winning LOVE album.

Other performers involved in the event included Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Alison Krauss, and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas, Duane Eddy, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and James Taylor, Diana Krall, and Neil Young with Crazy Horse, Sergio Mendes, and Katy Perry. Paul McCartney also took to the stage to perform.

The special event helped to raise funds for MusiCares’ emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery programs.
