Claire Holt has just joined the cast of the underwater thriller 47 Meters Down set up at Dimension Films. Holt will be co-starring with Mandy Moore (Tangled) in the dramatic film directed and co-written by Johannes Roberts. Roberts’ co-writer is Ernest Riera, and The Tea Shop and Film Company’s Mark Lane and James Harris are on board as producers.

Production is expected to begin this June. 47 Meters Down‘s underwater scenes will be shot in Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios’ exterior water tank. Additional filming will take place in the UK.

The Plot: Claire and Mandy will play sisters on a dream vacation to Mexico who become trapped in a shark observation cage at the bottom of the ocean, with oxygen running low and hungry great whites circling nearby. They have less than an hour of air left to figure out how to get to the surface. The picture is set to shoot in the UK and also at Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios’ new exterior water tank for the extensive underwater scenes that comprise the majority of the pic.

Holt’s best known for her role as Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW series The Originals and she’ll soon be seen in the NBC dramatic series Aquarius with David Duchovny.
