Critics’ Choice Awards 2018 Winners: ‘Shape of Water,’ ‘Big Little Lies’ Earn Four Awards

Held on January 11, 2018 and hosted by first-timer Olivia Munn, the Critics’ Choice Awards celebrated the best in films and television of 2017 with a star-studded lineup of presenters and winners. Members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association threw their support behind The Shape of Water and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association handed Big Little Lies a big win at the 23rd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. The Shape of Water and Big Little Lies each earned four awards, leading the list of winners.

The Shape of Water‘s wins came in the Best Picture, Best Director (Guillermo del Toro), Best Production Design (Paul Denham Austerberry, Shane Vieau and Jeff Melvin), and Best Score (Alexandre Desplat) categories. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri followed close behind The Shape of Water with wins in the Best Actress (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell), and Best Acting Ensemble categories. Coco, Darkest Hour, Get Out, and I, Tonya each picked up two Critics’ Choice wins.


Big Little Lies took home wins in the Best Limited Series, Best Actress in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series (Nicole Kidman), Best Supporting Actor (Alexander Skarsgård), and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series (Laura Dern) categories. The Handmaid’s Tale earned three awards: Best Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series (Elisabeth Moss), and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Ann Dowd). And, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won in the Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Rachel Brosnahan).
