Oscar nominee Bruce Dern (Nebraska) and Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson have signed on to the cast of The Peanut Butter Falcon from writer/directors Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz (The Moped Diaries). Dern and Johnson join Shia LaBeouf (American Honey) and Zachary Gottsagen (Becoming Bulletproof) in the project which will be produced and financed by Armory Films. T-Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart) is on board to produce both the film and the soundtrack.

Filming is expected to begin in Savannah, Georgia on June 17, 2017. Newcomer Zachary Gottsgaen inspired The Peanut Butter Falcon, with Nilson and Schwartz writing The Peanut Butter Falcon after meeting him while working at a non-profit organization.

“Films like this are the reason why we got into the business. The script is absolutely incredible and the message so important, which should be apparent from the superb talent that the script has attracted. Tyler and Michael are extremely talented and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with them,” stated Armory Films’ Tim Zajaros and Christopher Lemole.

The Plot: The Peanut Butter Falcon follows a down on his luck crab fisherman as he embarks on a journey to get a young man with Down syndrome to a professional wresting school in rural North Carolina and away from the retirement home where he’s lived most of his life.
