The Graphic Novel ‘Dark Matter’ Inspires a New TV Series

Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie’s graphic novel Dark Matter will serve as the source material for a new series coming to Syfy. Prodigy Pictures is producing the series created and executive produced by Mallozzi and Mullie. Jay Firestone and Vanessa Piazza are also on board as executive producers.

According to Syfy’s official announcement, 13 episodes of the one-hour series will air in 2015.

Dark Matter is a refreshing and entertaining space opera that blends an intriguing premise with fast-paced suspense,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Programming, Syfy. “It will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule next year.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Joe and Paul, who have created a series that revolves around compelling characters that will keep its viewers guessing what’s coming up next,” added Prodigy Pictures’ Jay Firestone.

The Plot:

In Dark Matter, the crew of a derelict spaceship is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage charged with vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.
