David Hasselhoff has signed up to battle killer flying sharks in Syfy’s Sharknado 3. The third film of the campy series returns Ian Ziering as Fin and Tara Reid as April, with Hasselhoff playing Ziering’s dad, Gilbert Sheperd. The cast also includes returning Sharknado player Cassie Scerbo along with Bo Derek, Ryan Newman, and Jack Griffo. Derek is playing April’s mom, Newman is on board as April and Fin’s daughter, Claudia, and Griffo plays Claudia’s friend.
Celebrity cameos in this edition of the Sharknado franchise include Mark Cuban playing the US President and Ann Coulter as the VP. Jerry Springer is playing a manic tourist, Chris Kirkpatrick is a lifeguard, and Chris Jericho is a roller coaster ride operator.
Thunder Levin wrote the screenplay and Anthony C. Ferrante is directing. Syfy’s planning a July 2015 premiere of the film which will find Washington DC, the Eastern Seaboard, and Florida under attack.
