Universal’s New Dracula Movie’s Getting the IMAX Treatment

IMAX, Universal Pictures, and Legendary Pictures announced the latest take on the Dracula legend, Dracula Untold, will be released internationally in conventional theaters as well as IMAX theaters on October 2, 2014. North American audiences will have to wait until October 17th to sink their teeth into Dracula. According to the announcement, the film was not shot in IMAX but will be digitally remastered in the format.

The cast is led by Luke Evans and features Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Diarmaid Murtagh, and Samantha Barks. Gary Shore makes his feature film directorial debut with the film which is based on characters created by Bram Stoker and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Dracula Untold is an origin story centering on the man who became known as Dracula.

“Dracula is perhaps the most iconic horror story ever told, and this new twist on this classic tale is sure to appeal to IMAX audiences around the world,” stated Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to once again partner with the terrific team at Universal and our long time collaborators at Legendary as we present this exciting film in IMAX.”
