Frank Ocean Cancels Tour Plans

From Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean has canceled his upcoming concerts, including tour dates with Coldplay as well as his scheduled festival performances. And he also cut short his performance at Norway’s 2012 Oya Festival citing vocal problems after performing just four songs.

According to a report from The Music.com-au, Ocean had been 15 minutes late to start his set on the main stage at the Oya Festival but then sounded good through four songs. “[…] the set was just hitting its stride when, suddenly, he disappeared off stage. Moments later something was announced in Norwegian. Turns out the disembodied voice was saying that Ocean had lost his voice and would not be returning to the stage,” reports The Music. “A disappointing outcome considering all seemed to be shaping up excellently at the time.”

Ocean then issued a statement via Way Out West festival organizers announcing the cancellations:

From Frank Ocean:
“Lem me start by saying I feel like an a**hole right now. But a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months and the casualities of that decision include my appearances at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot on the European leg of the Coldplay World Tour. Sorry as f*ck. I’ll be back if you’ll have me.'”

Meanwhile, the Way Out West festival people had this to say:

“Frank Ocean has just informed us that he will be unable to perform this evening at Way Out West. Both Frank Ocean and we hoped hoped for the best, but unfortunately he will not be performing. The good news is that Looptroop Rockers will be filling in and performing an exclusive gig at Way Out West. They have graced festival stages all over Europe this summer and now they’re coming to Gothenburg and WOW!”
