The riveting series based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series is now the most popular series in HBO’s history. The network just confirmed the numbers today, and Game of Thrones now ranks first among all original series ever to air on HBO.

According to HBO, Game of Thrones season four has been averaging 18.4 million viewers. Its numbers are high enough to knock the 2002 season of The Sopranos and its 18.2 million viewers off the top of the chart. And, looking back, season three of Game of Thrones was drawing in 14.4 million viewers.

Two episodes remain in season four of the Game of Thrones, executive produced by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield. The cast of season four includes Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Charles Dance, Aidan Gillen, Jack Gleeson, Kit Harington, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Alfie Allen, Jerome Flynn, Conleth Hill, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Stephen Dillane, Natalie Dormer, Iain Glen, Kristofer Hivju, Sibel Kekilli, Rose Leslie, Rory McCann, Michael McElhatton, Iwan Rheon and Carice van Houten.
