ABC has given a pilot commitment to the reboot of the popular ’70s series, Get Christie Love. The new Get Christie Love will be a one-hour drama with Courtney Kemp (Power, Beauty and the Beast) attached as showrunner and executive producer. Vin Diesel (the Fast & Furious franchise) and Shana C. Waterman of One Race Television, and Debra Martin Chase (Zoe Ever After) of Martin Chase Productions are also on board as executive producers.

The pilot’s set up with Lionsgate Television and Universal Television.

Get Christie Love! (the reboot won’t have the “!” in the title) premiered on ABC on January 22, 1974. The series made history as the first one-hour drama to star an African American female in the lead role. Teresa Graves played Christie Love in the 23-episode series which aired in 1974 and 1975.

The Plot: Inspired by the revolutionary TV movie and subsequent series that aired on ABC in the ’70s, Get Christie Love is an action-packed, music-driven drama that centers on Christie Love, an African American female CIA agent who leads an elite ops unit. She transforms into whomever she needs to be to get the job done, especially when it’s down to the wire and the stakes are life and death. The high-adrenaline missions of the series are anchored by an emotional mystery about Christie’s first love — unearthing the truth about this relationship will be the biggest mission impossible of her life.
