‘Ghostbusters 3’ is Definitely Moving Forward

Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd in ‘Ghostbusters’

We’ve been hearing about the possibility of a new Ghostbusters film for years, but with the death of Harold Ramis it seemed like the call for a new Ghostbusters movie faded away. Bill Murray was no longer interested (if he was actually ever interested in the first place), but Dan Aykroyd wasn’t totally ruling out another go at busting ghosts.

Original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman declined to direct another film after Ramis’ death, although he said he would remain involved as a producer. But while the guys who were involved in front of and behind the camera have backed away from reprising their roles, the new Ghostbusters movie is definitely still on – although it will have a completely new look.

Director Paul Feig confirmed it will be a female team fighting ghosts and other things that go bump in the night in the new film. And according to Fieg, he’s working on the script.

“It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.” @paulfeig

The Hollywood Reporter reports the new Ghostbusters movie will launch a new series instead of being directly connected to the original movies.

Feig hasn’t announced the actresses who will take on the starring roles, and it could be a while before we hear that official announcement, as filming isn’t expected to take place until next year.
