CinemaCon has named Oscar winner Goldie Hawn (Cactus Flower) as the 2017 Cinema Icon Award winner as just announced by Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser. Hawn will be presented with the award during the CinemaCon Big Screen Achievement Awards to be held on March 30th at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Hawn joins a list of previous Icon Award winners that includes Morgan Freeman, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Kevin Costner.

Announcing Hawn as the Icon Award recipient, Neuhauser said, “With a career that has spanned roles in more than 30 films Goldie Hawn continues to shine on the big screen as one of the most entertaining, relatable and recognizable actresses of our time. With an unforgettable presence and charm both onscreen and off Hawn has entertained audiences of all ages and we are pleased to honor an incredible woman with this year’s ‘Cinema Icon Award.’”

Hawn will next be seen playing Amy Schumer’s mother in 20th Century Fox’s comedy, Snatched, opening in theaters on May 12, 2017. The plot: “After her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily (Schumer) persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda (Hawn) to travel with her to paradise. Polar opposites, Emily and Linda realize that working through their differences as mother and daughter- in unpredictable, hilarious fashion – is the only way to escape the wildly outrageous jungle adventure they have fallen into.”

Goldie Hawn’s film credits include Private Benjamin, Overboard, First Wives Club, Death Becomes Her, and Sugarland Express.

CinemaCon recently announced Charlie Hunnam will receive the Male Star of the Year award and Brenton Thwaites is this year’s Breakthrough Performer. Chris Meledandri will receive the Producer of the Year award and Jessica Chastain has earned the 2017 Female Star of the Year award. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg have been selected to receive the CinemaCon International Filmmakers of the Year award.

CinemaCon is the annual convention for National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) which represents 32,000+ movie screens in the U.S. plus additional screens in 81 other countries. More than 5,000 members of NATO will gather in Vegas for information on the state of the industry and presentations from movie studios. CinemaCon offers studios the opportunity to promote their upcoming film slates, and most studios bring major talent from upcoming releases to the annual gathering of theatre owners.
