Guitar Center is Looking for an Undiscovered Singer-Songwriter

Guitar Center 2012 Singer Songwriter Contest
Guitar Center was so successful with its inaugural Singer-Songwriter contest that they’ve decided to host it again. The nationwide search for the best undiscovered songwriter received over 17,000 submissions last year, and Guitar Center’s hoping to reach even more potential stars with Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter 2.

The winner of the 2012 contest will have the opportunity to work with Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks while recording a four song E.P. After wrapping up the E.P., the winner will then get the chance to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Hollywood, CA.

“Last season was such a positive experience that I am thrilled to be back for another round of Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter,” stated Shanks. “Working with up-and-coming artists to help them hone their sound and refine their style is what I love to do, and this program has laid out the perfect platform to allow me to do just that.”

The Details:

-Submit an original live music performance video at www.guitarcenter.com/songwriter;

-All submissions will be ranked via WHOOZNXT, a company that tracks an artist’s fan popularity

-During the first round, all artists will be ranked based on their online fan growth

-During round two, the top 140 artists will be reviewed by producer John Shanks who will then pick the 10 finalists

-The 10 finalists will be asked to perform live at the Hotel Cafe where a winner will be determined

-The contest runs through December 23, 2012

The Winner Will Receive:

-A 4 song E.P. with Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks

-A live performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

-The American Design Experience from Fender – winner will design his or her own electric or bass guitar

-$10,000 Cash

Last year’s winner, Josh Doyle, is releasing his self-titled album (produced by John Shanks) on October 23, 2012.

“Guitar Center strives to consistently develop new opportunities to help musicians succeed,” said Dustin Hinz, Director of Music Marketing and Artist Relations for Guitar Center, in the official contest announcement. “To see Josh’s career develop through this competition has been extremely rewarding for Guitar Center. We look forward to giving another emerging artist a chance to share their music with the world.”
