Christina Aguilera is taking a break from NBC’s The Voice and Gwen Stefani will once again be filling her chair when season nine arrives later this year. Stefani will be joining returning coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams on the singing competition series set to return this September. Carson Daly will once again host the show.

The ninth season of the series will be Pharrell Williams’ third season as a coach and Stefani’s second season. Levine and Shelton have been there from the beginning and haven’t taken a season off.

“With such an astounding group of coaches at the peak of their musical ingenuity and Carson returning as our host, we are thrilled for what season nine will bring,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “The expertise and camaraderie of this panel will provide an immeasurable experience for the artists and must-see entertainment for all who are watching.”

Shelton said he had a blast working with Pharrell and Stefani back in season seven and is happy the team is back together for the upcoming season. And commenting on the upcoming season, Levine said, “I can’t believe we’re already on the ninth season. Time after time, coming back, it honestly feels like the first day of school. It’s become a second family for me and I’m always so excited to come back to it.”

Stefani’s currently on the road touring with No Doubt but said she’s looking forward to being back on The Voice. “I’m coming back and am so excited! I can’t believe I get to return to The Voice. It’s so inspiring to be around such incredible talent and music. I’m looking forward to working again with Adam, Blake and Pharrell. I love those guys.”

The Voice season eight with Levine, Shelton, Williams, and Aguilera averaged 14 million viewers.
