Hours Composer Donates Royalties to Paul Walker’s Charity

Poster for Hours Starring Paul WalkerNot only was Paul Walker busy with Fast and Furious 7 at the time of his death, he also was busy promoting his new film Hours written and directed by Eric Heisserer. Walker was proud of the dramatic film set in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and Pantelion Films is still planning to release the movie on December 13, 2013 in 15 cities (Los Angeles, New York, San Jose, Houston, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, San Diego, Sacramento, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Bakersfield, Tucson). In support of its upcoming release and in honor of Paul Walker’s memory, composer Benjamin Wallfisch has dedicated the soundtrack to the actor who passed away on November 30, 2013 as the result of a one-car accident.

In addition, Wallfisch and Varèse Sarabande Records have announced they’ll each be donating a portion of the Hours soundtrack sales and royalities to Paul Walker’s non-profit organization, Reach Out WorldWide. The Hours soundtrack will be available on December 17, 2013.

Info on Reach Out WorldWide: “Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW)—consisting of skilled volunteers—is a non-profit registered 501(c)(3) organization. While part of a relief team responding to the massive earthquakes that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010, actor/producer Paul Walker saw a gap between the availability of skilled resources and the requirement for such personnel in post-disaster situations. Following the trip he contacted a group of his friends to assist him in forming ROWW with the purpose of filling this unmet need.”

The Hours Plot:

The film centers on Nolan Hayes who arrives at a New Orleans hospital with his pregnant wife Abigail, having gone into early labor. What should be one of the happiest days of Nolan’s life quickly spirals out of control when the birth goes tragically wrong and Hurricane Katrina ravages the hospital, forcing an evacuation.

Told to stay with his child, who is on a ventilator, and await transfer by ambulance, Nolan and his newborn are soon cut off from the world by power outages and rising flood waters. When no one returns to help, Nolan faces one life-and-death decision after another, fighting to keep his daughter alive, as minute-by-agonizing minute passes, becoming unimaginable hours.
