Jason Ritter has been named as the recipient of the 2012 Indie Voice Award at the Starz Denver Film Festival (SDFF). The Reel Social Club (RSC) made the announcement in advance of the film festival’s November 1 through 11th run in Denver.

The Indie Voice Award “celebrates prominent individuals who help foster an appreciation of film culture within the independent film industry.”

“Since the 2008 Sundance break-out hit Good Dick, Jason Ritter has returned to the independent film scene year after year with Peter and Vandy, The Dry Land, The Perfect Family, and most recently, Free Samples,” stated Reel Social Club Co-Founder, Jenny Bloom. “We are truly honored to welcome him to this festival and present him with the first ever Indie Voice Award, setting the precedent of talented actors our generation admires for years to come.”

Ritter will receive the award during a ceremony set for Thursday, November 8 at the Free Samples screening at L2 Arts & Culture Center. According to the festival, audiences will have the opportunity to ask Jason Ritter, Tippi Hedren, Jay Gammill, and Joseph McKelheer questions after the screening.

Details on Free Samples: Free Samples tells the story of disaffected Jillian, a twentysomething law school dropout facing a quarter-life crisis. Adrift in Los Angeles, Jillian discovers that her lack of talent makes her dream of pursuing the arts pointless. She surrounds herself with an oddball group of friends who reinforce her feeling that life isn’t going as planned. The disgruntled heroine vacillates between cold and believably heartrending as she struggles to find her place in the world.
