Jay Baruchel, currently heard but not seen in theaters in the animated comedy How to Train Your Dragon 2, is set to star in a new half-hour series on FXX. Man Seeking Woman has received a 10-episode order from the network and will premiere in 2015, according to the announcement by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions.

Man Seeking Woman was created by Simon Rich and is based on his series of short stories. Rich also serves as executive producer and showrunner, with Jonathan Krisel, Andrew Singer, and Lorne Michaels also on board as executive producers. Rich wrote the pilot, and Jonathan Krisel (Kroll Show, Portlandia) is directing. The supporting cast includes Eric André, Britt Lower, and Maya Erskine.

“Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious, and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel,” said Grad. “We feel this is the perfect fit for FXX and are thrilled to pick up the show.”

“I’m incredibly grateful to Jon Krisel, Jay Baruchel, and Broadway Video for bringing my book to life,” said Rich. “Most of all, I’m thankful to John Landgraf and his team at FXX, who believed in us from the start and gave us great advice at every turn.”
