NBC just announced Jenna Elfman will be playing ‘Joyce Fisher’ in the new comedy series Growing Up Fisher. The series is being executive produced by DJ Nash, Jim Garavente, and Jason Bateman, with Bateman also on board as the narrator. NBC is planning to premiere it midseason.

According to NBC, Elfman will be playing the wife of Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons), who is “the proud family patriarch who does not let his blindness affect him as a father, husband, and breadwinner.” The role was played by Parker Posey in the pilot.

Elfman’s recent comedy series 1600 Penn was cancelled after its first season.
