Jennifer Lawrence Earns Outstanding Performer of the Year Award

Jennifer Lawrence is having a terrific 2012. With outstanding performances this year in The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence has solidified her place as one of the best actors of her generation. And the Santa Barbara International Film Festival is recognizing her talent with the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award. Lawrence will pick up the honor on February 2, 2013, joining a list of winners that includes Viola Davis (2012), James Franco (2011), Colin Firth (2010), Penelope Cruz (2009), Angelina Jolie (2008), Helen Mirren (2007), Heath Ledger (2006), Kate Winslet (2005) and Charlize Theron (2004).

Announcing Lawrence as the Outstanding Performer winner, SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling stated: “Ms. Lawrence impressed us earlier this year in The Hunger Games, but has now left us moonstruck with her career-defining performance in Silver Lining Playbook – recalling classic turns by Lombard, Stanwyck and Colbert. Naming her our Outstanding Performer of the Year is an understatement.”

Lawrence film credits include Winter’s Bone, X-Men: First Class, The Beaver, Like Crazy, The Poker House, and The Burning Plain.

The SBIFF will run January 24th through February 3rd. For more information, visit www.sbfilmfestival.org.
