Katherine Waterston has landed the female lead opposite Eddie Redmayne in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them set up at Warner Bros. Pictures. Fantastic Beasts returns audiences to the world of Harry Potter, with J.K. Rowling adapting her book for the screen and Harry Potter helmer David Yates directing. Harry Potter producer David Heyman and screenwriter Steve Kloves are producing the film along with Lionel Wigram and Rowling.

“Katherine Waterston is a rising star who was a revelation in our film Inherent Vice, earning the praise of both critics and audiences. We are thrilled to have her back in the Warner Bros. family, especially in one of our most anticipated titles for 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” stated Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros.

According to WB, Waterston is confirmed to star as Tina, “short for Porpentina, a witch who—unlike the beloved characters from Rowling’s Harry Potter books—works her magic in the U.S. She meets magizoologist Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.”

Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in theaters on November 18, 2016.

Waterston’s credits include Inherent Vice, Boardwalk Empire, Taking Woodstock, and Michael Clayton. She’ll next be seen in Steve Jobs with Michael Fassbender.

The Book’s Synopsis [Courtesy of Bloomsbury Publishing]:

As featured in the first year set texts reading list in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an extensive introduction to the magical beasts that exist in the magical, non-Muggle world. Some of the animals featured in the A-Z you will have already met in the existing Harry Potter books: for example Hippogriff, Flobberworm, Kappa – others you certainly won’t: read on to find out exactly what a Chizpurfle is, or why one should always beware of the sinister Lethifold…

As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction, this set text book by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too… On reading the book you will also find that Harry, Ron and (in one instance) Hermione – couldn’t resist graffiting the book, and adding their own hand-written opinions.
