Lionsgate broke the news via Facebook that Keiynan Lonsdale has been cast as ‘Uriah’ in the second Divergent movie, Insurgent. Lonsdale’s best known for starring as ‘Ollie’ on the Australian TV series Dance Academy and Insurgent will be his largest American film work to date.
The character of Uriah was actually in the first book of Veronica Roth’s bestselling young adult series and even though he plays an important part in all three books, the character wasn’t included in the Divergent movie. Per the Divergent Wiki: “Uriah Pedrad was a Dauntless-born initiate who became a good friend of Tris following her transfer from Abnegation. Like Tris, he was also Divergent.”
Divergent‘s Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q and Mekhi Phifer return for the sequel. Among the new cast members confirmed for Insurgent are Rosa Salazar, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Daniel Dae Kim, Suki Waterhouse, and Jonny Weston.
Insurgent will open in theaters on March 20, 2015 release.
