Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson will host the 5th ‘Clear The Shelters’ special set for August 23, 2019. The actual Clear The Shelters day is Saturday, August 17th and marks the end of the annual campaign to find forever homes for dogs, cats, and other homeless pets.

This year’s special will be a 30 minute recap of the shelter event.

More than 1,400 animal shelters participate in the Clear The Shelters day across the United States and Puerto Rico. During the Clear The Shelters day, adoption fees are waived or reduced in order to assist potential adopters. Since 2015, 250,000+ animals have been adopted on Clear The Shelters day.

“I am a huge animal lover and can tell you from personal experience that when you open your heart and home to a rescue animal, your pet will thank you every single day of its life. It’s the most beautiful and purest form of unconditional love you can ever have. I’m so excited for people to discover this feeling when they find their perfect pet on August 17, and to tell all the amazing pet adoption stories from this year’s Clear The Shelter’s campaign,” said singer/songwriter and The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson.

“Clear The Shelters is a summer tradition that communities everywhere look forward to. We’re excited for Kelly to host our special Clear The Shelters show to help us celebrate all the fun and heartwarming adoption stories from our 2019 campaign. We’re proud to join with animal shelters and rescues, as well as our affiliate station partners and sponsors, to present this annual event that celebrates animals and helps shelters match families with their new furry best friend,” stated Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

In addition to her singing career, Clarkson’s been busy lending her voice to animated films. She brought “Moxy” to life in UglyDolls and is providing the voice of “Delta Dawn” in Trolls World Tour.
