A Kardashian and Mario Lopez to Host The X Factor

File this one in the “why, oh why?” category: Fox has signed up Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell) and one of the Kardashians – Khloé Kardashian Odom – as hosts of this second season of The X Factor. Lopez’ normal gig is hosting Extra, the celebrity entertainment show, and he has his own radio show: On with Mario Lopez. Kardashian Odom is one of the Kardashians and is married to NBA player Lamar Odom.
 
Will this increase the viewership of The X Factor? Unlikely. If Britney Spears and Demi Lovato didn’t grab your attention, there’s no reason to believe a Kardashian and Mario Lopez will prove to be big draws.
 
Kardashian and Lopez are joining the show in November when the live broadcasts begin. The series airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm on Fox.
 
“I’m so thrilled to become a part of The X Factor family,” said reality TV star Odom. “I’ve been a big fan of the show and look forward to working with Simon and all of the judges. It’s going to be so much fun!”
 
“I’m very excited to be joining The X Factor team,” added Lopez. “I love the show, and I’ve been a big fan of Simon Cowell and the judges for a long time. Khloé and I have been friends for years and I know we’ll be a great team and have a blast.”
