VH1’s New Dating Series ‘Love at First Kiss’ Coming This Fall

VH1's Love at First Kiss Gets a Fall Premiere

VH1’s will be debuting the new dating show Love at First Kiss, based on a Dutch series, this fall. VH1’s version was created by Mike Fleiss (The Bachelor) and will have an eight-episode season one run, with Susan Levison, Executive Vice President, Original Programming & Production for VH1 describing the series as a “provocative social experiment.”

Commenting on the new show, Levison said, “VH1 is thrilled to team up with the masters of televised love at Next Entertainment to put the proverbial cart before the horse and find out if one kiss between two strangers can lead to true love.”

Here’s how the series will work, according to VH1:

Each hour-long episode of Love At First Kiss will explore the captivating power of a first kiss between two strangers. Straight or gay, the only qualification to be on the show is the willingness to kiss somebody you just met. And the experiment is as simple as it sounds — walk up to a complete stranger, kiss, and then decide if there’s enough chemistry to want to get to know each other better. Can a kiss really lead to true romance? Or will they choose to go their separate ways?

Before they make their final decision, they must first both agree to go on a two-minute speed date. Then if each person is still interested they must decide if they want to enter the final stage: a real first date. Cameras will catch all of the awkward moments, candid confessions as well as physical and emotional connections.

Love At First Kiss will feature eight sometimes-steamy, sometimes-awkward smooches in the ‘Kiss Room’ per episode. If a kiss falls flat, a recurring cast of daters will have the chance to go back to the Kiss Room until they find chemistry. Throughout the series, the audience will witness all of the heartfelt scenes that come with the ups-and-downs of scoring that first kiss, first date and, hopefully, true love.
