TNT has picked up the sci-fi series Artificial Intelligence created by Luc Besson and Bill Wheeler. Besson and Wheeler are writing the series and will executive produce, and Besson may step behind the camera to direct the pilot. The series marks the first time Besson has written a show for American television. Series creator Wheeler’s credits include Queen of Katwe with David Oleyowo, Ghost in the Shell with Scarlett Johansson, and Ninjago. Besson’s lengthy list of film credits include La Femme Nikita, Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, Lucy, and the Taken films.

Artificial Intelligence also has Matthew Gross (Sons of Liberty), Edouard de Vesinne (Taxi Brooklyn), and Thomas Anargyros (No Limit) on board as executive producers. There’s no word yet on who will star in the series or when we can expect to see the series premiere on TNT. TNT acquired the series in a deal with EuropaCorp TV USA.

The Plot: In AI, an artificial intelligence entity escapes its laboratory confinement and begins a methodical quest to carry out mysterious plans. The creator of the AI assembles a team of specialists to discern its objective, while simultaneously working to counter its rapid maneuvers and warn the world of imminent dangers.
