Actor Kevin Pollak’s directorial debut, Misery Loves Company, has been snatched up by Tribeca Film. The documentary, which focuses on comedians and is having its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, was written by Pollak and John Varhous.

Among the celebrities who talk about why they’ve spent their professional lives attempting to make people laugh are Jimmy Fallon, Steve Coogan, Jim Gaffigan, Whoopi Goldberg, Judd Apatow, Jon Favreau, and Tom Hanks. “Misery Loves Comedy is a fascinating, unparalleled look inside the minds of some of the greatest and most beloved comedians of our time. Kevin Pollak has made a ‘must watch’ on the art of comedy, for casual enthusiasts, to connoisseurs, to aspiring comedians,” stated Todd Green, General Manager of Tribeca Film, commenting on the acquisition.

Misery Loves Company is aiming for a spring 2015 release.
