Nina Dobrev has confirmed via Instagram that she’s returning for The Vampire Diaries‘ series finale. Dobrev left the series at the end of season six and while there’s been talk that she’ll return to help finish the series’ eight season run, nothing was confirmed until Dobrev shared a copy of the season eight episode 16 script with her name blazoned across the cover page.
The show’s final episode will be directed by Julie Plec from a script by Plec and Kevin Williamson. Episode 16 is titled “I Was Feeling Epic” and will air on Friday, March 10th. Commenting on Dobrev’s return, Julie Plec stated, “I’m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended – with Nina back to help us say goodbye.”
“I’m so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!” said Williamson.
Noting that she’s sharing the script photo on a Thursday, Dobrev made sure to state this is not a Throwback Thursday photo. She’ll be rejoining her The Vampire Diaries co-stars Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Candice King, Kat Graham, and Michael Malarkey to wrap up the popular show.
