The 50th New York Film Festival will feature films from directors Noah Baumbach, Brian De Palma, Ang Lee, Sally Potter, and Robert Zemeckis. The Film Society of Lincoln Center has announced the 32 movies that make up the main slate for the upcoming festival running September 28th through October 14th, with Lee’s Life of Pi set to open the festival and Zemeckis’ Flight chosen as this year’s closing night selection.

Announcing the main slate, Richard Peña, Selection Committee Chair & Program Director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center, said, “The films making up the main slate of this year’s NYFF, have in common a general quality of fearlessness” that unites otherwise very disparate works. These are films that go all the way, works willing to take the risk or chance that by doing so they may be bringing audiences to places they might rather not go.”
