3.8 million viewers tuned in on Saturday, September 20, 2014 to watch Jamie and Claire exchange their wedding vows on the seventh episode of Starz’s Outlander, one of the most-anticipated episodes of this first season run. The drama based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series has been averaging 5 million viewers when you add in the delayed viewing options, easily making it one of the most-watched series on the network.

However, unfortunately, after this upcoming episode on Sept. 27th, fans of the show are going to have an agonizingly long wait for season one’s final eight episodes. Starz split this first season in two, and the second half won’t arrive until April 4, 2015.

Fortunately, Starz has made the wait slightly less frustrating by announcing early on that the series will return for a second season.

Based on Gabaldon’s books, Outlander features a cast that is led by Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe and includes Graham McTavish, Tobias Menzies, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, and Gary Lewis.

Details on the Mid-Season Finale:

The mid-season finale finds Frank (Menzies) desperately searching for his missing wife, while Claire (Balfe) tries to come to terms with her new marriage to Jamie (Heughan). Claire is faced with an emotional quandary as a life-altering opportunity presents itself.
