Patti LuPone Joins the Penny Dreadful Cast

Tony Award winner Patti LuPone will be tackling a guest starring role in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful‘s second season. Douglas Hodge, Sarah Greene, and Jonny Beauchamp have also joined the cast and will be seen in guest-starring roles when the series returns in 2015 with 10 new episodes.

According to Showtime, LuPone will be playing ” a mysterious character of great importance in Vanessa’s (Eva Green) past.” Hodge is on board as Scotland Yard investigator Bartholomew Rusk who’s trying to find the person responsible for a series of murders. Greene is playing Hecate, daughter of Evelyn Poole (played by Helen McCrory who was just upped to series regular). And Beauchamp is a “young man with a singular past.”

Simon Russell Beale who played Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle in season one has also been upped to a series regular.

Filming will take place this month in Dublin.
