The search for the new Ant-Man director following the exit of Edgar Wright is now over. Marvel’s officially announced Peyton Reed will be taking over as director and they’ve added Adam McKay to “contribute” as a writer on the project (McKay had been rumored to be on the short list of possible directors).

Despite the shift in directors, Marvel’s still planning on a July 17, 2015 theatrical release.

Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas remain attached to star in the Marvel film. Shooting is expected to begin next month.

Reed’s directing credits include Yes Man, The Break Up, Down with Love, and the first Bring It On movie.

The Plot:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
