Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life…in 2017. Walt Disney Pictures has set a July 7, 2017 release date for the fifth film of the Pirates franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Johnny Depp will be back as the rum-loving Captain Jack Sparrow, and Kon-Tiki‘s Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are on board as directors.

Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can) wrote the script, and Jerry Bruckheimer is, of course, back as a producer.

To date, the Pirates franchise has earned more than $3.7 billion. The series kicked off in 2003 with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was followed in 2006 by Dead Man’s Chest, in 2007 by At World’s End, and in 2011 by On Stranger Tides.
