The Lonely Island Movie Has an Official Title and Poster

Andy Samberg channels his inner boy band lead singer/Justin Bieber on the poster for Lonely Island’s new film. Officially titled Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, the Universal Pictures comedy film was written by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, with Schaffer and Taccone directing and Samberg starring. Samberg debuted the film’s teaser poster and announced the title during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, Knocked Up) produced the film along with Rodney Rothman (Get Him to the Greek), Taccone, Samberg, and Schaffer. In addition to Samberg, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping stars Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows and Maya Rudolph. Universal’s planning a June 3, 2016 theatrical release.

The Lonely Island trio began work on the film in May 2015 and that time said they were seriously “zazzed” about the project. Producer Apatow said he begged to be involved and the guys finally allowed him to come on board because his “whining needed to come to an end.”

The Plot: The comedy goes behind the scenes as singer/rapper Conner4Real (Samberg) faces a crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops, leaving his fans, sycophants and rivals all wondering what to do when he’s no longer the dopest star of all.
