Rachel Lindsay joined Chris Harrison and Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live to announce she’ll star in ABC’s The Bachelorette season 13. Lindsay, who is a fan favorite on the 21st season of The Bachelor starring Nick Viall, will be handing out roses when the 13th season of the reality dating series kicks off on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT. The early announcement of The Bachelorette season 13 star is a major spoiler for this current season of The Bachelor as it’s obvious by her selection as the first black The Bachelorette star that she will not be Viall’s final choice.

“We’re thrilled to have Rachel Lindsay as our next Bachelorette,” stated Robert Mills, senior vice president, Alternative Series, Specials and Late Night for ABC. “This coveted role is always reserved for a fan-favorite from the previous season, and Rachel is no exception and has been the fans’ choice since she exited the limo. She is an accomplished, confident and beautiful woman who knows what she wants in life. We all look forward to joining her on the joyous journey as she looks for that one special man.”

ABC’s official announcement described Lindsay’s time on The Bachelor as one that ends with her heart broken. “On her first one-on-one date with Nick, Rachel danced through the streets of New Orleans, then danced her way into his heart. Week after week, viewers watched as the initially reticent Rachel opened up more and more. In the end, she finally found the courage to confess her deepest feelings to Nick, only to be left broken-hearted.” – ABC

The Bachelor‘s 21st season has been ranking first in total viewers for its Monday time slot. According to ABC, season 21 is up in total viewers over season 20.

Details on Rachel Lindsay: “Rachel, 31, obtained her under graduate degree at University of Texas at Austin, then went on to receive her law degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Driven and passionate about her career, Rachel quickly joined a prestigious law firm back in Dallas after graduation. Winning in court has never been a problem, but finding that great love is a case that unfortunately remains open.

When she’s not in the courtroom, Rachel enjoys jamming out to Michael Jackson and Prince, playing basketball and watching scary movies. Her future husband will need to be smart, funny, have a decent jump shot and be willing to compete for her attention with the two other men she holds dearly: her handsome nephew, Allister, and her adorable dog, Copper. Rachel went through the trials and tribulations of falling in love with Nick on “The Bachelor.” Now it will be her turn to ‘investigate’ a group of wonderful men and find her soul mate.”
