Masterminds Movie Character Posters

Relativity Studios has set 2016 release dates for five films including The Strangers 2. The studio’s slate of films was in limbo due to the bankruptcy filings, but Relativity Media’s Ryan Kavanaugh all but guaranteed they’d be releasing seven films between January 2016 and mid-2017. These just-announced five films are part of Kavanaugh’s promise.

The Disappointments Room starring Kate Beckinsale, written by Wentworth Miller, and directed by D.J. Caruso will open in theaters on March 25, 2016. The horror film Before I Wake starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane has landed an April 9, 2016 release date. The thriller Kidnap with Oscar winner Halle Berry will arrive on May 13, 2016. Masterminds with Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson, and Zach Galifianakis opens on September 30, 2016. And, the horror sequel The Strangers 2 will be released on December 2, 2016.

The Masterminds Plot:

David Ghantt (Galifianakis) discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is an uncomplicated man stuck in a monotonous life. Day in and day out he drives an armored vehicle, transporting millions of other people’s money with no escape in sight. The only glimmer of excitement is his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell (Wiig) who soon lures him into the scheme of a lifetime.

Along with a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers (Wilson) and an absurdly faulted heist plan, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million in cash…only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall. With the bandits blowing the millions on lavish and ridiculous luxuries, they leave behind a glaring trail of evidence.

Now on the lam and in over his head, David must dodge the authorities, evade a hilarious hit man, Mike McKinney (Sudeikis), and try to turn the tables on the ones he trusted most.

The Before I Wake Plot:

Jessie (Bosworth) and Mark (Jane) decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody. Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first, they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep, but soon discover why: Cody’s dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody’s imagination, and in the next, the horrific nature of his night terrors.

To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody’s nightmares.
